UI GreenMetric Hosts 11th Regional Information Session for Francophone Universities to Advance Sustainability in Higher Education
On May 29, 2026, UI GreenMetric successfully organized its 11th Regional Information Session, bringing together universities from French-speaking countries to discuss the advancement of sustainability in higher education institutions. Conducted with translation support to facilitate international participation, the session served as an important platform for universities to explore how sustainability principles can be integrated into governance, operations, education, research, and community engagement.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric. In his remarks, Dr. Vishnu emphasized the increasingly important role of higher education institutions in addressing global sustainability challenges. He highlighted how universities can serve as key drivers of sustainable development by embedding environmental, social, and governance considerations into their institutional strategies and daily operations.
The session was moderated by Anin Naimatul Kumala, S.Hum., Social Media Officer of UI GreenMetric, who guided participants throughout the program. To ensure effective communication and engagement among participants from various Francophone countries, translation assistance was provided by Caroline Andrea Windah, S.Hum., Executive Secretary Officer of UI GreenMetric.
The first presentation was delivered by Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice-Chairperson of UI GreenMetric. Her presentation introduced participants to the vision, objectives, and methodology of UI GreenMetric, highlighting the role of sustainability rankings as a tool to support institutional transformation. She also explained how universities can utilize sustainability indicators to strengthen governance structures, improve operational performance, and foster collaboration among stakeholders while contributing to broader sustainable development goals.
The Question and Answer session was led by Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development of UI GreenMetric. During the discussion, Rahmi provided participants with detailed insights into the technical aspects of the UI GreenMetric framework, including data collection processes, assessment indicators, and reporting mechanisms. The session emphasized the importance of accurate, transparent, and integrated data management in measuring sustainability performance and supporting evidence-based decision-making within higher education institutions.
The 11th Regional Information Session reflects UI GreenMetric’s ongoing commitment to expanding sustainability awareness and strengthening institutional capacity among universities worldwide. By facilitating knowledge sharing and international dialogue, particularly among Francophone higher education institutions, UI GreenMetric continues to encourage universities to adopt comprehensive sustainability practices and contribute actively to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
