Driving Survival Transformation: UI GreenMetric Anchors National Policy for Impactful Higher Education
6th of May, 2026. The landscape of Indonesian higher education is undergoing a profound shift toward social responsibility and environmental survival. At the recent Coordination Meeting hosted by LLDIKTI Region XV in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, UI GreenMetric took center stage to align global frameworks with Indonesia’s national strategic priorities. The meeting contains prominent speakers such as Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si. , Chairman of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi, M.Eng, Director General of Higher Education; Prof. Dr. Adrianus Amheka, ST., M.Eng, Head of Higher Education Service District (LLDIKTI) Region XV; Prof. Dr. Mukhamad Najib, S.TP., M.M, Director of Institutional Affairs; Prof. Dr. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, S.T., M.T., Director of Resources; Dr. Berry Juliandi, M.Si., Director of Learning and Student Affairs.
The forum, themed “Building Synergy Among Higher Education Institutions, Local Governments, and Industry to Accelerate Development in East Nusa Tenggara", served as a high-level strategic arena. The event opened with a national policy directive from the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), followed by an integrated commitment from regional leaders to support the "Mahasiswa Berdampak" (Impactful Students) program. This set the stage for a series of deep-dive panel discussions involving the nation’s top academic and research authorities.
Representing UI GreenMetric, Vice Chairperson Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., integrated these multi-faceted policies into a single, actionable framework. As Kemendiktisaintek pushes the "Diktisaintek Berdampak" policy, Dr. Abellia demonstrated how UI GreenMetric bridges the gap between institutional excellence and real-world results. She emphasized that a university’s success is no longer measured in a vacuum but by its tangible contribution to tackling urgent local issues such as extreme poverty and stunting through survival-oriented infrastructure and ethical management. She also showed that UI GreenMetric has proven to be a reliable and quantifiable measurement system for sustainability.
By adopting these global standards, Indonesian universities, particularly those in NTT, can transform their campuses into "living laboratories" that foster synergy between local governments and industry partners. This is further supported by the research collaboration and industrial downstreaming initiatives discussed by the Director General of Research and Development, ensuring that academic research translates into community prosperity.
UI GreenMetric remains committed to supporting Kemendiktisaintek’s mission of turning higher education into a strategic area of transformation. To further this mission, UI GreenMetric is pleased to announce the opening of the 2026 Participation Cycle. We formally invite all Indonesian higher education institutions, especially our colleagues in the NTT region, to join this global network of sustainable campuses. This is your opportunity to benchmark your institution’s impact and lead the way in regional resilience. To participate, simply visit our official website at uigreenmetric.com to register and submit your data.
