On March 25, 2026, as part of a major initiative aimed at strengthening international academic cooperation and promoting sustainability, a high-level delegation from the University of Indonesia (UI) visited several leading educational institutions in Hong Kong. The purpose of the visit was to reinforce UI’s vision for sustainable higher education and to promote the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings as an authoritative global benchmark for high standards of environmental sustainability on university campuses.

The delegation, led by the Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, and the Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D., engaged in high-level dialogues at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), The University of Hong Kong (HKU), and Shenzhen University. These visits served as a platform to showcase UI’s flagship sustainability network, demonstrating that the university’s global academic prestige is deeply intertwined with its rigorous commitment to environmental stewardship.

During the official visit to HKMU, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, as Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, advanced Universitas Indonesia’s global sustainability mission under the leadership of Prof. Heri Hermansyah. His presence underscored institutional alignment while positioning UI GreenMetric as a strategic platform within UI’s broader internationalization efforts. He highlighted that, as part of this umbrella initiative, UI GreenMetric continues to strengthen UI’s global engagement while maintaining its credibility as a trusted and internationally recognized benchmarking system for assessing universities’ environmental performance.

Addressing a regional audience of university leaders, Dr. Vishnu Juwono emphasized the importance of aligning institutional growth with ecological responsibility. He noted that UI GreenMetric not only enables universities to measure and compare sustainability performance but also supports continuous improvement in carbon footprint reduction and resource management. “International collaboration is key to addressing global challenges. Through our network, we empower universities to benchmark progress and drive real sustainability impact,” he stated.

The visit underscores Universitas Indonesia’s proactive role in the global sustainability discourse. By fostering these partnerships, UI continues to lead the way in ensuring that higher education institutions are not only centers of academic learning but also pioneers in the transition toward a more sustainable and resilient global society.
