Gulf University Achieves Progress in Digital Transformation

Gulf University is making significant strides in its digital transformation journey, according to a recent research project conducted by MBA students specializing in Digital Transformation. The study highlighted notable advancements in the university's academic digital services and proposed the creation of a dedicated platform for generating and tracking innovative ideas.

University President Professor Mohanad AlFiras affirmed the institution's commitment to digital advancement, stating that the student recommendations would be carefully considered within Gulf University's overarching strategic digital transformation plan.

Dr. Mohammad Hamad Allaymoun, a Professor of Digital Transformation within the MBA program, emphasized the project's alignment with the university's dedication to blending academic learning with practical, real-world application. He noted that the initiative reflects Gulf University's proactive approach to embracing digital evolution.

The student-led research also identified areas for further enhancement, including the automation of internal processes and the cultivation of a stronger digital innovation culture among faculty and administrative staff.

Professor AlFiras underscored that the research findings reinforce the university's vision of establishing a sophisticated digital infrastructure that meets the evolving demands of modern higher education. He reiterated that digital transformation and innovation are central pillars of the university's strategic objectives, aimed at creating a technologically advanced learning environment that nurtures creativity and critical thinking.

He further added that the university has already initiated a review of existing digital initiatives for potential improvements and is actively working to integrate the project's recommendations into its forthcoming operational plans.

Highlighting the valuable contributions of graduate students, Professor AlFiras emphasized Gulf University's reliance on its postgraduate cohort to develop meaningful solutions for contemporary challenges. He stressed that their involvement in institutional performance evaluations is a key aspect of preparing them to be future leaders and decision-makers.

Dr. Allaymoun explained that the students utilized internationally recognized tools and methodologies to assess the university's digital transformation maturity. The comprehensive study involved an in-depth analysis of the university's digital infrastructure, innovation practices, and strategic preparedness for digital change.

He noted that the project drew upon global assessment frameworks such as the Deloitte Digital Maturity Model and the Organizational Innovation Framework, which were adapted to the university's specific local context. Students conducted interviews with both academic and administrative personnel and meticulously reviewed current digital initiatives to gain a holistic understanding of the university's digital ecosystem.

"We divided the students into specialized teams, each focusing on key areas such as technological infrastructure, digital culture and institutional readiness, data utilization and smart analytics, innovation and idea generation, and digital engagement with students and the community," added Dr. Allaymoun.

He highlighted that the students presented practical and implementable recommendations, including the improved integration of digital systems, the establishment of an innovation tracking platform, the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure digital maturity, and the implementation of specialized training programs in digital transformation.

Dr. Allaymoun emphasized the mutual benefits of such collaborations between students and institutions, noting their significant contribution to the development of competent digital leaders. He stressed that this hands-on experience provided students with a deep institutional understanding of digital transformation, moving beyond theoretical concepts.
