OJK Green Ranking Plan

UI GreenMetric Visit Financial Services Authority (OJK) of The Republic of Indonesia to Discuss ESG Metrics

Depok, 8th May 2026. As the global community faces intensifying challenges such as climate change, population pressure, and resource overexploitation, strategic collaboration across all sectors has become an essential pillar for securing a resilient and sustainable future. Addressing these complex issues requires a unified approach involving governments, academic institutions, and financial regulators to develop frameworks that ensure accountability and environmental stewardship. In this transition, the financial sector plays a critical role as a creator of policy and a catalyst for social change. A fundamental component of this progress is the ability to measure and quantify sustainability impact through credible assessment systems, a mission shared by both the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and UI GreenMetric.

On this date, UI GreenMetric conducted a strategic visit to the Sustainable Finance Unit of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of The Republic of Indonesia to explore collaborative opportunities in developing a Sustainable Corporate Ranking system. The discussion focused on exchanging ideas regarding the application of sustainability indicators and "green values" for corporations under OJK's oversight. The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of representatives, including Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric; Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development of UI GreenMetric; Dr. Jauzak Hussaini W., S.Kom., M.T., Data and Research Coordinator of UI GreenMetric; and Riska Putri Hariyadi, S.I.P., M.Si., Communications Coordinator of UI GreenMetric. They met with Jarot Suroyo, the Deputy Director of Sustainable Finance at OJK; and Retnia Wulandari, Head of Subdivision at OJK, alongside the team at OJK’s Sustainable Finance Division. Together, they discussed bridging academic sustainability frameworks with the practical needs of the Indonesian financial industry.

A significant outcome of the discussion was the exploration of a potential collaboration involving an information session between UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Ranking and OJK. This session would be designed for companies registered under OJK's supervision to further understand the urgency of implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) metrics. During the visit, UI GreenMetric introduced its established sustainability framework based on the pillars of Environment, Economy, and Equity. This framework currently facilitates global rankings for over 1,745 universities and dozens of Indonesian cities, evaluating performance across categories such as Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Governance.

OJK complemented these insights by detailing its comprehensive Sustainable Finance Journey, which is currently in Phase II (2021-2025). Key initiatives include the Indonesia Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance (TKBI), a living document designed to be interoperable with the ASEAN Taxonomy to classify sustainable economic activities in sectors such as energy, construction, and transportation. OJK also presented its implementation of Climate Risk Management & Scenario Analysis (CRMS) and its ongoing efforts to update regulations, such as POJK 51/2017, to align with international standards like IFRS S1 and S2. These efforts underscore OJK’s commitment to embedding sustainability into the financial sector to enhance long-term economic stability.

Overall, the visit reaffirms that collaborative efforts between regulatory bodies and academic evaluators are essential for a collective response to environmental challenges. By combining UI GreenMetric’s assessment expertise with OJK’s regulatory mechanisms, both parties aim to foster a culture of transparency and responsibility within the Indonesian corporate landscape. As institutional synergy grows, these initiatives will serve as a vital catalyst in advancing the global sustainability agenda and ensuring a stable future for the global community.
