Partnership with UNIDO Expands Students’ Horizons in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
Gulf University, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO – ITPO Bahrain), has launched its Entrepreneurship Week, running from April 13th to April 17th, 2025. The event, organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, aims to empower students to transform their entrepreneurial ideas into impactful projects that benefit the national economy.
Held under the theme “Empowering Ideas, Inspiring Leaders, Driving Change,” the week's opening ceremony saw participation from government and private sector representatives, local entrepreneurs, successful alumni, and international organizations, highlighting the university's dedication to fostering a supportive entrepreneurial environment.
Professor Mona bint Rashid Al-Zayani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of Gulf University, emphasized the event's strategic importance, stating the university's commitment to promoting a culture of innovation and developing future leaders.
Professor Mohanad Al-Faras, President of Gulf University, highlighted the role of entrepreneurship in shaping the knowledge economy and the university's goal to equip students with the confidence and tools to lead and make a difference.
Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office, emphasized the importance of the partnership with Gulf University, citing it as a strong example of an academic institution integrating entrepreneurship into its educational framework.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zaghoul, Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, stated that the week reflects the college's vision of aligning academic content with real-world demands, providing students with a space to experiment and engage with real-world challenges.
The week's activities include a student project exhibition, interactive competitions, workshops on leadership and decision-making, and a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. The event will conclude with a ceremony honoring outstanding projects and supporting organizations.
